Sky Vegas Roulette Games
Welcome to online roulette with Sky Vegas. It doesn’t matter if you’re new to the game or a roulette veteran, we have everything you need to get started.
Here you can learn how to play online roulette, how the odds of a roulette wheel work, or hop straight into the action with the games below.
What Is Online Roulette?
Online roulette is just a new way to play this casino classic. Depending on the game, you’ll play using a digital roulette wheel or a live feed to a real table. There, you can bet on which space the ball will land on. When betting, you’ll choose numbers, colours or groups based on where they sit on the board or the wheel.
Players love roulette for its versatile betting options, with payouts that scale according to risk. Online roulette is no different!
For example, a straight up bet on a number has the potential of a high 35:1 payout if it hits. On the other hand, a column bet covers more numbers but has a lower 2:1 payout. You choose how you play and there’s nothing stopping you from changing your style spin by spin.
Roulette is also respected for being a game of complete luck. Don’t expect decision-making like you’ll find in blackjack or poker. At the roulette wheel, you pick your spaces, sit back and see where the ball lands.
How to Play Online Roulette Games
If you’re new to roulette games, here’s how it all works. The first thing you’ll see in roulette is a wheel and a table equally decorated with colours.
Roulette is played in three basic steps:
- You make your bets. In person, you’d put your chips on the board space. Some online roulette games let you do this too.
- Betting ends. The dealer spins the wheel, or the digital wheel spins automatically, powered by a random number generator to ensure total unpredictability.
- The ball inside the wheel lands in one of its 36 spaces. Bets get paid out depending on the pocket it landed in. Then it’s back to betting, and the steps restart.
You’ll notice the board has numbers from 0 to 36 in order. Traditionally, it’s ordered in three long columns sitting on top of one another. Each number has a colour – 0 is green and 1 to 36 are equally divided between red and black. Around them, you’ll see other spaces like a red space, ‘even’ or ‘1 to 18’. These are group bets, so you’d cover any red, even number or half the numbers.
Note: The order of the numbers on the board is not their order on the wheel. They are jumbled.
So, your job is to put the chips in the right places. It’s all about striking a delicate balance between what is possible and what gets you a payout. With roulette payouts, the more numbers you cover, the lower your potential reward.
To get started here, you’ll need to have a Sky Vegas account. That means you’ll need to sign up with your details. You’ll then need to add funds to your account before playing.
Online Roulette Bets & Payouts
Now that we’ve got the gist of it, take a look at this full breakdown of all the betting options in roulette.
Inside Bets
Inside Bets target few numbers but offer potentially higher payouts.
- Straight Up: Picks a single number, offering the best payout at 35:1.
- Split: Picks two neighbouring numbers on the board, paying out at 17:1.
- Street: Picks three numbers in a row horizontally, paying out at 11:1.
- Corner: Picks four numbers by placing a chip in the corner, payout is 8:1.
- Line: Picks two rows, so six numbers, with payout set at 5:1.
Outside Bets
Outside Bets target more numbers but offer lower payouts.
- Red/Black: Picks the colour of the winning pocket, with a simple payout at 1:1.
- Odd/Even: Picks the odd or even status of the winning pocket, with payout at 1:1.
- Low/High: Picks one half of the numbers from 1-18 to 19-36, paying out 1:1.
- Dozens: Pick the 1st, 2nd or 3rd block of 12 numbers, payout is 2:1.
- Columns: Picks one of the vertical columns instead, 12 numbers, payout is also 2:1.
Call Bets
Call bets are based on the number position on the roulette wheel, not the board.
- Neighbours: Pick any number plus two neighbours on either side, for 5 numbers total.
- Voisins du Zéro: Neighbours of Zero, so the 17 numbers close to zero on the wheel.
- Tiers du Cylindre: Third of the Wheel, so the 12 numbers opposite the zero.
- Orphelins: Orphans, the 1, 6, 9, 14, 17, 20, 31 and 34 pockets that aren’t covered by the other two call bets.
When playing roulette online, you’ll get a clickable menu in the top corners of the screen. That should show you what bets are available and their potential payout ratios.
Roulette Odds
Having mentioned European roulette, we should cover how the odds differ depending on what kind of roulette you’re playing. Naturally, most UK roulette wheels are the European version.
The European and French versions have just one of those green 0 pockets. American roulette adds a double zero ‘00’ space, so 38 pockets total. French roulette adds special rules like La Partage, where you win half of your bet back if a 0 lands.
The extra space in American roulette changes the odds. There’s a 1 in 37 chance of hitting a pocket in French and European roulette. As a percentage, that’s a 2.70% probability. American roulette’s 1 in 38 makes this 2.63% instead. If you went for one of those ‘50/50’ bets (which never actually reach 50% probability), you’d get a 48.6% win chance on a European wheel and 47.4% on an American wheel. So, by the numbers, French and European roulette offer a better deal for players.

Roulette Strategy
Since roulette is a game of chance, all the strategy is in how you play your chips. Here are some of the most common roulette strategy tips that you can use at your next table.
Flat Betting
Bet the same amount every spin. It keeps your bankroll predictable, eliminates upper betting limit risks, and lets you focus on enjoying the game without complex calculations.
The Martingale Strategy
Play even money bets and double your bet after each loss. That means you focus on the Red/Black, Odd/Even or High/Low bets. If you win during Martingale, you revert to your starting stake.
The Paroli Strategy
Double your bet after each win instead of losses. The reverse of Martingale, it's more aggressive and appeals to players preferring a different approach to bet progression.
The Fibonacci Strategy
Use the Fibonacci sequence (1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13...) for bet sizing. Move forward after losses, back two spaces after wins. Creates a measured progression system.
The D’Alembert Strategy
Add one unit to your bet after losses, subtract one after wins. Offers more control than Martingale with gentler bet growth progression.
The Labouchere Strategy
Write your own number sequence. Bet the sum of first and last numbers. Cross off numbers when you win; add losses to the end. Progress toward clearing the sequence.

Roulette FAQs
What is En Prison?
En Prison is a rule used at some French and European roulette tables. If the ball lands on 0 for an even money bet, you don’t lose your bet yet. Instead, you get another spin of the wheel.
What is the 2/1 Strategy?
Also known as the Column Strategy, this is where you maximise coverage of the betting board by choosing either dozens or columns. It’s named after the 2:1 payout ratio that these bets could win. The logic is that accepting a lower payout is worth covering more of the wheel and safeguarding against losses.
